I’m at the tavern.

The Beginning

I’m really drunk at the tavern. I observe the crowd from a quiet corner while smoking my pipe.

The Beginning

Jeb:
Strung out on morphine and exhausted from a long journey I’m keen to rent a bed. I should be ahead of any of Judge Brown’s henchmen from Ohio but I can’t be certain. Tall loner in the corner is sure drinking like he has an axe to grind but I can’t reckon how it would involve my predicament. Swallowing hard, I approach the barkeep to inquire about the price of lodging.

The Beginning

Barkeep: Normally it’d be 15 cents but you like a fella with some medical knowledge. If you’d be willing to help me out with rash I got your room would be on the house. (Treat injury skill)

The Beginning

Sounds fine by me. (Treat injury modifier exceeds DC 15 check for treat disease, consumes one use of medical kit)

The Beginning

Noticing the skills used by the doctor, and realizing how they may come in handy when I find that dirty dog One-eye, so that he doesn’t die too quick. I approach the kindly doctor and offer to buy him a shot of whiskey.

The Beginning

Though startled by the sudden approach, I accept his generous offer.
“Thanks stranger, are you from ’round here?”

The Beginning

“No… I see your a doctor, those are skills that could come in handy. I reckon you heard about that reward they’re offerin for that fella. Would you be interested in joining forces to catch em? That’s a lot of money. With your smarts and my wit and guns I figure we got a pretty good chance. Maybe one more gun hand would be useful though, just for back up. Any ideas where we could find a reliable man?”

The Beginning

“Sure thing, so long as it doesn’t take too long, I ain’t staying around this town too long… And no, I don’t know of any, but this barkeep here might”
We gesture to the bartender and inquire if he knows of any characters inclined to bounty hunting.
